Just got back from visiting one of the auctions happening locally in the next few days. Pook and Pook in Downingtown have a very attractive large auction, with a mixture of ceramics of all sorts, furniture, paintings, silver, jade etc. Stopped by this afternoon to look at a couple of pieces and realized that an auctrion provides so much fun and excitement. If you are bidding there is a nervousness and hope that just maybe no one else will be interested in the lot you want. You try to hold off bidding in case your interest should spark another bidder till just at the right moment you raise your hand or paddle nowadays at many auctions and hope that you will time it just right to catch a bid as the auctioneer is ready to move on to another lot of more interest.
You also see all sorts of characters at auctions, the dealers, collectors, people decorating their homes, and you can get a bargain, sometimes a decent rug sells for very little or a nice piece of furniture for example. So happy hunting.
Pook and Pook's auction is tomorrow February 24th and 25th you can check their website for times. On Saturday Ted Wiederseim another local auctioneer also has a selection of merchandise up for sale at Ludwigs corner firehouse, you can view this probably on Friday and before the sale on Saturday, again details can be found at their website.
