Busy day tomorrow, so this post is a little early.
One of the good things about the Main Line and Chester County is the abundance of local vineyards. Today, I stopped by the tasting room for Paradocx Vineyard located at The Shoppes of Longwood Village, just outside Kennett Square. A great place for a visit the room has plenty of light and John Caldwell the tasting room manager will be glad to help you. The Vineyard is located at 1833 Flint Hill Road, Landenberg, PA 19350 if you want to take a drive out there.
I went with a bit of an agenda as I was hoping I can persuade Paradocx to be one of the sponors for the Main Line Antiques Show providing wine for the opening night party. Not sure if that will happen, but we tasted a few options this afternoon.
You can see their is quite a selection with several medal winners. We tried their 2010 Viognier, a very nice full bodied white wine with lots of fruit flavor. We followed this with a 2010 Chardonnay, much lighter, good fruit flavor, with a hint of oak, but not sweet and sugary like so many Chardonnays today. We finished up with a taste of their 2010 Cabernet, again a very nice wine with great fruit flavor, not too many tannins, dry tasting and reasonable light but full of flavor and pretty dry on the tongue. If you have come across the Paradocx cans of wine like paint, these are much better and you should not consider them to be the similar, but you can also get the cans in the store as well, and they make a fun choice for a party.
Give them a try and enjoy, worth a trip.
