Tredyffrin Police alert

Last Tuesday afternoon, one of our neighbors found that her son's
Nintendo DS toy and games and her "Chanel" (knock-off) sunglasses were
missing from her car. Her garage door was open, but she was at home
or at the bus stop waiting for her son. She reported the theft to the
Tredyffrin police, who did an outstanding job of follow-up and
research and found the items being fenced at a local electronics store
and found the culprits who had taken the items.

The apprehended thieves were local (not neighborhood) high schoolers
(from Conestoga) who admitted to stealing from homes in the
Tredyffrin, Easttown, Upper Merion, and Newtown Square areas.

The police have asked us to put out an alert to the neighborhood:

1) to request that if anyone is missing items from cars, garages, or
homes, please contact the police and make a report.

2) to please remind residents to keep garages closed and cars locked.

There have also been several suspicious incidents in the Township
involving mailboxes, including explosions of hazardous material. The
police and FBI are investigating these incidents.

The police advise that it would be a good idea to be cautious when
opening mailboxes. if anything suspicious is found in or on the
mailbox, just leave it alone and call the police. Better safe than
