What does it mean to be a Main Line Realtor?

What does it mean to be a Main Line Realtor?

Wayne StationThe Philadelphia Main Line is an area outside and west of the city of Philadelphia, it runs through parts of Montgomery, Delaware and Chester Counties. It is named because of the original train line that ran out of the city and some of the stations along the line are delightful. The Main Line has stretched over time, some older inhabitants would frown on areas that are referred to as being on the Main Line today, but newcomers know no difference.

The Main Line is a very affluent area, with many multi-million dollar luxury homes and mansions. Over the years it has changed, but each of the townships vies to have the best school district, and there is a lot of competition. This can add up to put a lot pressure on the kids to perform as well. It is expected that most will attend four year college and many families expect their kids to go to Ivy League Schools.

We have some of the best restaurants in the area, and there are plenty of places to stop for a coffee, or shop a trendy neighborhood along the Main Line, be it Bryn Mawr, Berwyn, Wayne or Malvern. Luxury car dealerships proliferate along the Main Line, Lexus, Mercedes, BMW or Audi can be found scattered along and at either end of the Main Line.

But, in the midst of all this affluence there are those who struggle, be they seniors, or those struggling to make ends meet on minimum wage jobs, or who have had a sickness in the family or lost a job. Then there are those who are trying to find an affordable home where first time homes often start in the mid to low $300,000's such as teachers, nurses, fire fighters and police officers etc.

Being a Main Line Realtor means helping all these different types of buyers, renters and sellers. Educating first time buyers on what is needed to purchase and maintain a home, helping them through the process and helping them understand what happens and when. It means holding the hand of a senior who is selling their home because their loved one has died and they can no longer maintain their family home of decades alone. It can be finding the right rental for a family who want to be in a certain school district, or finding an apartment for rent that will accept a pet for a tenant. It can mean encouraging a newly divorced person through the decision making process alone, maybe for the first time for years.

It is this and more, it is being involved in your community, helping those who cannot help themselves due to sickness or fire. We are truly blessed by this being a community that draws around those in need and being there for others.  It is lending a helping hand to to these charities in the community either providing office space as a drop off location for a supplies drive or raising funds by chairing a fund raiser and giving your time and your energy helping others and supporting them in their efforts.

It is because of this that I am a Main Line Realtor and proud of it. As Zig Ziglar said, "If you help enough other people achieve their goals you will achieve yours."

Nick & Trudy, thank you for shedding some light on your area. I don't see a downside to having a range of clients to work with! Zig sure knows his stuff.

Nick and Trudy, Main Line looks like the place to be! An affluent area with a rigorous school system sounds like an attractive area for a lot of families who can afford to live in the area!

Great post, Nick & Trudy!  It really is about helping others & being a part of the community, if we can do that the rest will fall into place.  The Main Line offers some of the best communities around Philadelphia for sure.
