Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

Liz and Bill Spears challenged us to write this month about what we love about our job. Several people have written about how they don't view what they do as a job, others about what motivates them. When I got to thinking about this I knew what I was going to write about. My why I do this job, be a Tredyffrin Easttown Realtor.

I remember it clear as day, I was sitting in a continuing education class, and being the smart Realtor I was I had chosen an ABR course, that is Accredited Buyer Representative so I could have some letters after my name. I always wanted letters after my name as I knew it was going to make Mom happy. Anyway I digress.

I can see the class leader/teacher even now walking to the front of the room and he was talking about fiduciary duty. Whilst others were nodding off, I sat up. It was afternoon, but suddenly my interest was piqued.

"Fiduciary duty is where you put your clients, in this case your buyers, interests ahead of everyone else's including your own.

I suddenly realized this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I had once signed up to be a military officer in England, but got injured so that career went out the window. But always remember being told to be a good leader you have to put your men first. As the Marines say when you are an officer, you eat last.

I realized right away that putting others needs ahead of my own aligned completely with my values of servant leadership. It was all about helping others acheive their dreams.

Sure I love the freedom, and the variety of things to do, and the negotiations and everything else. But helping others above and beyond my self gives me so much satisfaction I know it is the right thing to do everytime.

So, if you want help finding or selling a Tredyffrin Easttown home and want someone who is going to put your dreams, goals and needs ahead of their own every time, call me.

Our fiduciary duties are not to be taken lightly as they are essential to a good relationship with our clients.  Failure to abide by them will not only create an issue for our clients but could also put our license and our brokerage at risk

" I always wanted letters after my name as I knew it was going to make Mom happy."

This made me laugh.

Your policy of placing fiduciary duty above all else is respected by clients and is the best policy for long term business.    Happy customers leads to a happy referral base..

Keith Landis, I wish I could press the like button multiple times.

Ed Silva to me it is the purpose and I believe one of the things that sets me apart.

Ron and Alexandria Seigel, totally agree and I think not to put it lightly can be a USP, but then others may complain about that statement.

Kristin Jonhston, I don't always include about the conjtests but realize I sometimes miss a contest announcement as I miss others posts and it does help if people read it and realize they need to enter. Still have time, just find your post and add a link on the contest page, http://activerain.com/blogsview/5013606/february-2017-challenge---what-i-love-about-my-job

I also just realized half my post was missing, not sure whereit went, but rewrote it and added my photo.

Nick and Trudy

We all know that fiduciary duty is the foundation, and a pretty weighty one, of what we do in this business!

Nice post.  This paragraph cracked me up:

I remember it clear as day, I was sitting in a continuing education class, and being the smart Realtor I was I had chosen an ABR course, that is Accredited Buyer Representative so I could have some letters after my name. I always wanted letters after my name as I knew it was going to make Mom happy. Anyway I digress.
