Love this sculpture

Camino Sculpture

Not every sculpture I saw on My Camino de Santiago de Compostela related to the Camino. But as I walked over this bridge in Ponte de Lima towards my alberge/hostel I saw this sculpture of Saint James and the wish for a good camino.

Bom Camino! Something you heard often whilst walking from other pilgrims and also from people in the villages and towns you walked through.

Bom indicates this sculpture was in Portugal. When you cross into Spain the Bom changed to Buen.

Nick,

What a lovely sculpture.  We have a Portuguese friend who has been teaching basic phrases, so I was familiar with the Bom...Happy Wednesday.  A

Ron and Alexandra Seigel thank you, I loved it, it is a familar image to pilgrims, but to see it in such large size on the bridge was amazing.

That is certainly unique and special, Nick. A new interpretation of St James, for sure.

Good morning Nick.  It must have felt good to be encouraged by this sculpture.

That is very cool, I like the look of it too.  I forgot that you did that walk, did you write a post about it after doing it?  I will have to check as I would enjoy hearing about your journey!

Nick, I have clients that walked the Camino last year, and said it was fun, but the weather was atrocious.   Love your sculpture.

Nina Hollander the sculpture is based on a figure in the cathedral in Porto I believe, I took thios photo below, you can see the hat with the shell motif etc.

Figure of St James as a pilgrimGabe Sanders it was great to see it sitting on the bridge and made us all feel good, lots of pilgrim photos are taken with it.

Brian England I posted one blog, but have been intending to post more as I am still processing my thoughts and emotions from the walk.

Joan Cox I was lucky, it really depends when you go and your route, the weather gets cooler as you approach Santiago de Compostela, I had only 3 days of rain, but it rained when it did, the rest of the time we had hot dry weather, which for several days was too hot, well above 100.

Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 - It sounds like you were on a holy pilgrimage and always had a saint to guide you to keep moving and never give up hope.

The details on that sculpture are really something! To look back at your photographs now has so much meaning. May you be blessed.

Nina Hollander it was a beautifully carved piece.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP thank you, definitely there was a lot of energy there guiding pilgrims.

Endre Barath, Jr. it was all the same journey, it took me 5 weeks total, but am looking forward to my next trip which will be shorter.
